Why are you coming to the D6 Conference?
By Ron | March 23, 2009
Here are a few responses from people who are registered for the D6 Conference. We recently ask them why and this is what they said…
We are seeing more parents ask our children’s ministry to get more involved in their family life.
David
I am coming and bringing my kids and grandkids so we can connect for preservation of Christian continuity of our family.
John
I’m attending because I want to take this information back to my congregation. I want to lean innovative ways to support and equip parents to be their child’s primary spiritual teacher and champion. I want to develop a family ministry philosophy and program for the families of my church to help further God’s Kingdom!
Ami
Randall House has put together one of the greatest speaker line-ups for family ministry. To hear 34 speakers in one setting? Unheard of – Can’t miss what everyone is talking about. Family ministry is where everyone is heading and I am heading to the D6 Conference to join in the conversation.
Ethan
I am planning on attending the D6 conference because of the passion that God has given me for reaching children and their families. I firmly believe that parents and families have the biggest potential for ministering to their children. I also believe that the church has been called to encourage and equip families for the work of ministry within and without their homes. It is my desire to reach as many children as possible with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ…and I believe that working with families is the most effective way to multiply God’s kingdom here on earth. I would love to be challenged and equipped for this exciting ministry to children and their families.

We’re excited to be bringing a team of 10, a mix of staff and parents. And our desire is to really amp up our parent engagement as the spiritual leaders in the home.
Joe
I am behind any conference, publication, or ministry that helps today’s families. The D6 Conference promises to do exactly that. How could I miss it?
Eric
I see the need for parents to connect with their children spiritually. This is something that is lacking in most families. I am also excited about gaining knowledge and insight from our speakers. I go to one conference a year and this is it and I am looking forward to it.
Mark
The reason I am coming is because we, as a church, believe that this is a biblical way to do student ministry. I am a student minister; my goal is to parent myself out of a position. I am looking forward to my first D6 Conference.
Troy
I am the Pre-school Director for our church and am attending the D6 Conference with the Children’s Director for our church because it is our desire to revamp our ministry from less of a Pre-School, or Children’s, or Youth Ministry and to more of a Family Ministry. We want to help our parents with tools to take their Sunday mornings and be able to carve out and implement family time and Spiritual teaching together. We want everyone to be memorizing the same verses from the top age bracket to the bottom and in essence mentoring one another. We were excited to see that D6 appears to be providing tools to us as church leaders to pass on to them. We have never been more excited about a Conference and only wish it was sooner!
Beth
I am planning on going to the D6 Conference because I want to learn more about it!!! We have studied the D6 family and really enjoyed getting to learn more about it. I now want to learn different ways to put it into action!! Plus I hope and pray that it will help us in our church in reaching out to others.
Michelle
10 of the Rejoice Staff and spouses are coming to D6 because:
1) The speakers will be challenging and thought provoking…think George Barna, Darren Whitehead, Mark Matlock, Stoker, and even Jimmy Holbrook. (The combined experience must be 300 years of professional ministry and 30 books written.)
2) The price is unbeatable. We registered really early and the price was a steal. We are still registering at a great price.
3) Location is great. Can’t beat a Texas sized conference with Texas size speakers and Texas sized restaurants with Texas like friends.ok maybe I’ve gone a little far.
4) The first one! Everyone loves being a part of something ground breaking, earth shattering, first time conference….just think when D6 is the most talked about conference in the nation you can say-I went to the very first one…then when you attend the 2013 conference you can say, remember when we went to the first one back in 2009!
5) When else will you get to have Matt Markins, Ron Hunter, Eric Puschmann, Jacob Riggs, Keith Burden, James Forlines, Joe Grizzle, and Allen Pointer all in the same room at one time?
6) I’m going because I won a free T-shirt!
Casey
Our whole Family Ministry staff will be in attendance because we have already based parts of our ministries off of the D6 principles in Scripture. We also look forward to hearing from Barna, since we treat his book “Transforming Children Into Spiritual Champions” as our Children’s Ministry “Bible” in both our Early Childhood Ministry and in our Elementary Ministry. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve quoted him over the past few years. And we’ve also written a 1st-5th grade mid-week curriculum based off of some of Barna’s principles from that book over the past 4 years. Anyway, that’s it in a nut-shell. The D6 Conference will be like the icing on the cake for us. Can’t wait to learn the things God has given your team!
Ryan
My family and I are coming to the D-6 conference because we believe it will help us raise our children and grandchildren to become servants for the Lord. We lost our son- the father of two of our grandchildren- 3 years ago in a trucking accident. So as grandparents we are taking a larger role in helping our daughter-in-law raise them. My husband and I need a refresher course since we have had an empty nest for about 10 years now. We are really excited about the conference. Thanks for all you do.
Gay
My husband & I are coming to the D6 conference to help the families in our church make spiritual training a priority.

…We are speaking to our congregation about the D6 purpose. We will be attending to better help our staff and therefore, better shepherd our flock of parents and grandparents. Our boys are ages 16 and 18. One of them attends FWBBC as a pastoral ministry student. He’s had heart problems and has not been allowed to drive back and forth by himself to and from Nashville, because of his sudden episodes with his heart. He asked the heart doctor Tuesday if he thought it was okay to drive back to Nashville. He said “I don’t see why not.” My son thought it was a done deal. So as we drove back home, he thought he was going back to Nashville the next day by himself. When I told him mine and his dad’s word supercedes the doctor’s, he was so upset, because he knew we place a lot of trust in the doctor’s word, but it took a back seat this time. I told my son he must trust us that we will only do what we think is best for him and his well being. And if he’ll obey us, it will show our Heavenly Father he is ready to trust Him as well. This was my most current D6 moment. These moments have been most treasured for my husband and myself in raising our boys.
Leanne
I am excited to come because that is where my heart has been for 3 years, trying to get parents involved in their child’s spiritual upbringing. The church has such a small part of a child’s life, that discipleship is only going to happen through the parents and the time that they have with their children. I want to learn how to do this more effectively than what we are doing.
Janette
I am attending the D6 Conference because I believe strongly that God has ordained the family to be the learning institution when it comes to spiritual development of children. As a church, we have taken the responsibility of teaching and training children. We have failed to equip and encourage parents to be the most influential person in the lives of the children and their spiritual matters. I hope to hear great thoughts and ideas for how we can turn this around and provide children homes where faith is taught and lived out everyday.
Michelle
I am coming to the D6 conference because I have a passion to establish a ministry that teaches parents how to teach God’s word and instill a Biblical worldview in their children. We aren’t getting it done in one hour a week and it’s not the way God designed it. Most parents don’t know how to do this even if they wanted to. I want to see what others who have been doing this and teaching this have to say about how to get this started in the local church. Becoming a D6, family-based church is an important part of my vision for the church God has just brought me to. … the church is in a great position to launch a new vision and approach to ministry. I believe the D6 conference will play an important role in helping us develop that vision.
Ryan
I’m coming to the D6 Conference because I want to learn more about equipping parents to be a positive, Godly influence in their child’s life. I want to change the attitude in my own mind, in my church, and in the Church as a whole that says that children’s and youth ministries should be raising kids to be followers of Christ. Helping young people be disciples of Jesus isn’t going to happen if our reach never extends beyond Sunday school and youth group. Our ministries need to be focused on helping young people be influenced in all aspects of their life, especially in their interactions with parents (usually the number one influence in a child’s life). I’m coming to D6 to learn more about how to do that!
Kelly
My husband and I love the youth at our church! We recognize that our window of opportunity at church is tiny, but parents have the greatest opportunity for impacting their children. We want to help our church and the families within it to take advantage of every opportunity to incorporate God’s Word into their lives. We also want to enhance our ministry, and learn principles that will strengthen our own family!
Ashley
I am coming to D6 because, as a Christian school administrator, it is clear to me that our biggest challenge as a school is keeping our parents connected to the lives of their children. The students are easy – it is this generation of parents that presents the challenge. We are eager for our parents to more fully understand their role in a kingdom education and not buy in to the lie that they are to separate from their children when they reach adolescence. My prayer is that D6 will provide my leadership team and me with training that we can take back to our parents and faculty.
Shawn
Our church has seen over the years a decline in parental partnership with the ministry staff in helping students know Jesus and His love, grow in Jesus and His love, and show Jesus and His love to others. Those families who connect daily as they nurture and support each other specifically in the faith seem to be the strongest when struggles come their way. I am attending the D6 conference in hopes of learning how to better reconnect parents and their children when it comes to their families faith and worship life.
Ben
I am coming to the D-6 conference to learn more about reaching children and teens for the Lord. These young people are the future leaders of our churches and our denomination and I want to help win as many to Jesus as I possibly can. I also want my church to grow and to be a leader in our community.
M
I’m coming to the D6 conference because our congregation keeps growing (yea!), and with that comes the role of providing parents with compelling reasons to prioritize worship, Sunday School, or mid-week programs over all the other activities that compete for their children’s time. So with these activities underway, I’m coming to the D6 conference to find examples of what offerings are being well received at other churches. I’m looking for guidance on how to make all the children’s ministry activities as meaningful as possible in a way that helps families “take home” key skills and tools to continue nurturing and sharing their faith with their children throughout the week.
Amy
I have registered for the D6 Conference because of the simplicity and potency of its biblical mission. As a church staff member working with youth, I am well aware of the limits of my influence. Experience has shown that youth workers are not miracle workers–yet we serve a miracle-working God, and it is in our best interests to raise children his way: parents. I hope that the D6 Conference will give me practical ways of empowering the parents in my congregation to provide the godly example and training their children need.
Isaac
My attendance at the D6 conference is threefold: one is to get my church into the mindset of a Family Ministry, not just each individual ministry area doing its own thing. Secondly, my passion is to equip parents to be the spiritual leaders of their family. I am looking for any information/resources to put into their hands that would show/ help them know how to become the spiritual leader. Third, this will be a great team building time for our ministry staff.
Sharon
As a Pastoral couple and parents we are passionate about coming alongside families to equip, encourage and experience D6 with them. We are looking forward to great ideas and insights on implementing more family based ministry in our church and a stronger Christian worldview in our home. We truly believe that without this type of shift in mindsets and ministries among Christian leaders and parents we will be a mere remnant in a post Christian society.
Ryan and Emily
We are coming to the D6 conference because we need a change. I have accompanied [my husband] to all of the conferences [he has attended]. Another major reason we are coming is because it is close to where we live. We are trying to save money wherever we can, and we are passing that onto our church budget. Finally, we are coming because this is our “vacation.” We have three sweet daughters under the age of 5, and I am a SAHM. [We] need our time together, and this conference looks really great.
Amy
I will be attending D6 because I am committed to restructuring my church to equip parents to be the spiritually raise their children and I need all the input and help I can get.
T
I am planning on going to the D6 conference because I have a love for parenting the way God wants me to. I teach a parenting class at my church. I see a world of “normal parents” and I want to be the “abnormal” parent in todays society to parent after the perfect father. My heavenly father. I am always looking to learn his ways. I will be attending this conference with another lady who has the same passion as I do. We are looking forward to being a part of such a GREAT conference. Press on
Tina
I am coming because I love the family.
Russell
I am coming to D6 in hopes of learning more about bringing Sunday School and families together again. D6 sounds like a great start and I am looking forward to learning more.
Don
I am going to the D6 conference because I believe in the foundational value of the family to the health and life of the church. For too long the church has let parents and families off the hook in preparing their children to serve the Lord. It’s time we got back to the biblical model. I think this conference will provide tools and ministry insight for building quality family-based programs within our church.
Paul
I will be attending the D6 Conference because I want to learn all I can to help families get strong and stay strong in their faith in the Lord! I am so excited about the conference! With all of the top-tier speakers and musicians who will be there, it promises to be an AMAZING conference!
Curt
I’m coming to the D6 conference because its the first conference I’ve seen that is addressing the questions that I have been asking for three years. I can’t wait.
Robert
Thanks for the opportunity to share why my wife and I are so excited about the upcoming D6 Conference. We have three children and take our responsibility very seriously. We just can’t do it alone. The Lord is faithful and has always provided is with the help and strength we need. D6 is one more confirmation that the Lord is equipping us as parents to fullfil our number one ministry – our family. We have a few friends who also see the need for a like-minded community of parents, and we are trying to get them to join us for the conference. The Splinks are great, and the curriculum is as well. We look forward to being challenged and to learning more about drawing our family closer to Christ.
Alan
I am excited to attend the conference. because I help oversee the children’s dept at my church and as a mother of three, I am always looking for insightful ways to share Christ and encourage their walk.
Kerry
Why I’m coming to the D6 conference…………in only ONE paragraph!
God has placed a passionate desire deep inside my heart to use the education and experience I have been blessed to receive to help and encourage two very important groups of people: (1) parents raising young children – birth through kindergarten and (2) early childhood ministry leaders and volunteers. One of my primary goals is to help parents understand and feel confident in their role as the spiritual leader of their family and for the church to fulfill their role of partnering with these families as they train up their children. Since the moral/spiritual dimension of a child begins to develop around the age of two and is typically set in place by the age of nine (Barna Research), that means we have just 7 short years to teach children right from wrong and most importantly, to think from a Biblical worldview perspective! Thtat’s a big job, and those of us who are ministry leaders need other ministry partners to lean on for fresh insight, guidance and encouragement. That is why I’m attending the D6 Conference!
Michelle
I am very excited to attend the D6 conference this year. It will be my first time and I hope to bring back valuable tools to utilize. I work full time as an intern in our children’s ministry Bibleland and hope to learn as much as I can before my term is up.
Crystal
I am coming to D6 to make my 1 hour per week more effective to those kids whom I come in contact with. I want them to take what they learn from that one hour and apply it to the 167 that are left in their week.
Roxanne
I am coming to the D6 Conference because I am looking for ways to launch a family ministry at our church. I have been in Children’s Ministry for over a decade, and am seeing the deterioration of families at our church. I feel we need to make the church a place where families grow stronger together. I am looking for a way to help parents, parent. I am also looking for ways to make the church and growing in Jesus an important item in the weekly routines of our busy families.
Tammy
As an associate pastor of family ministry, I was looking for a conference that focused on ministering to families instead of children or youth. My focus is strengthening couples & families. I hope to help them impart faith to their children at home & equip them with great resources.
J.L.
I am very excited to be coming to the D6 Conference. I have volunteered in 4th and 5th grade children’s ministry for about 9 years. Our church family is growing larger every year with about 40 kids in this age group. We have a lot of information and support we want to share with the parents of our children. The age old method of sending a paper home with the child seems to just clutter the mini-vans! I am looking for some unique and effective ways to communicate to parents how we can support them in the raising of Godly children.
Doris
I am coming to the D-6 Conference because I have personally believed for a long time that the church has “inherited” too much of the responsibility for the spiritual development of children. We as ministers must better encourage and equip parents to take back their God-given roles of raising their children to know, love and follow Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior! I can’t wait to better find out how to accomplish this.
Sheila
Well, I could go on all day on why I am coming to the conference, but I will try to keep it brief. God has done so many amazing works in my marriage…. He has shown us that even in small town America there is a strong need for a greater influence in the home that the church can’t offer, and the parents must accept this task. At our family emphasis month we went through the D6 material and the people here accepted the challenge and have a deep desire to take charge of their families spiritual growth from within the home. I hope to come back from the D6 conference with so much more information and help for our families as they strive to be the Godly moms and dads that God would have them to be.
Tim
I’m looking forward to coming to this conference because I need some help getting parents involved. We need to shift the mindset away from one hour is enough.
Sarah
I’m coming because I believe that parents are the biggest influence in the lives of their kids. And, we as a church need to figure out how to partner with them so we can effectively reach the next generation for Christ!
Mike
